KCU's Reawakening Plan

Updated April 27, 2021 | Questions? Email reawakening@kansascity.edu

The Ad Hoc Committee for the Reawakening of the Campus has been working to prepare plans and protocols for the return of faculty and staff.

KCU's operations will be performed with one goal in mind: the safe and healthy performance of work and handling of responsibilities by all KCU employees, no matter where located.

In the long term, our hope is to return to a work environment as it existed before the pandemic.

However, we must do this through a careful, thoughtful and staged approach which offers a gradual transition, as allowed by local orders coupled with employee-centric planning.

The KCU Campus Reawakening Plan is focused and rooted in your willingness, ability and reasonable comfort level in returning back to campus. Access the Frequently Asked Questions on the myKCU intranet.

KCU Campus Reawakening Plan Highlights

  • The majority of KCU employees will continue to work remotely from home until further notice.
  • Return to work back on campus will happen over several gradual and incremental stages.
  • The plan allows for those who are not willing or able to return to campus, or reasonably comfortable with returning to campus, to work from home for an extended period of time to the extent possible based on their jobs and after discussion with their supervisor.
  • Individuals who are not able to perform their jobs from home will be asked to return to work sooner than later.
  • KCU will implement proper social distancing, disinfection and safety procedures in the workplace as the norm for the foreseeable future.

As this situation continues to be fluid, we must remain cautious and flexible. Please accordingly note that our approach and plan are subject to change as our re-opening experience, and state, local, and federal guidelines improve our judgment.
